During debate on the House floor over the “Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025” (HR 1968) on Tuesday, Democrats took to the House floor and called out Republicans over the problems with the continuing resolution. Democrats took every opportunity to show how it is connected to the broader attempt to cripple Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Veterans benefits, and food assistance for impoverished people.
Meanwhile, Republicans made little effort to properly address concerns from Democrats and preferred to make a mockery of the process. While not all Republicans acted the way Mark Alford (R-MO) did in the clip below, it does show how little decorum Republicans tend to show in the House of Representatives. The resolution passed in a 218-212 vote along party lines. The bill cuts immigration aid and increases funding for immigration enforcement.
